What RoadSpend is
RoadSpend (https://roadspend.com) is a private travel logbook for motorhome trips: expenses, budgets and trip records. It is operated by the RoadSpend team («we»).
Data we collect
- Account data — your email address, name, optional avatar and birthday. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email and name from that provider.
- Content you enter — trips, vehicles, crew members, expenses, notes and receipt photos you upload.
- Technical data — language, time zone and anonymous usage/performance metrics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, without cross-site tracking cookies).
- Optional product analytics — page visits, referral and campaign information, selected product actions, browser/platform context and an internal pseudonymous user ID after sign-in.
How we use it
Only to provide the app: store your logbook, share trips with crew members you invite by email, convert currencies (European Central Bank rates) and process Pro subscriptions. We do not sell your data and do not show ads.
Optional analytics and session recordings
With your permission, we use PostHog Cloud EU (Frankfurt) to understand how RoadSpend is used, where people encounter difficulties and whether product flows work as intended. PostHog is not the source of truth for trips, expenses, subscriptions or other business records.
Product analytics and session recording are optional. You may allow analytics without allowing session recording, reject both, or change your choice at any time under Privacy & Data in Settings. Until you opt in, PostHog is initialized in an opted-out state and does not capture product events or session recordings.
Session recordings are used to observe navigation, clicks, scrolling and points of friction. All text and input values are masked, and images and explicitly private areas are blocked. We do not intentionally send expense amounts, trip notes, receipt contents, email, name, birthday or precise location to PostHog.
Your choice is stored in first-party consent cookies shared by the RoadSpend website and web app. PostHog also stores its own opt-in state. Withdrawing consent stops capture and clears PostHog persistence on that browser. We do not synchronize this preference between devices.
Where it is stored
Data is stored with Supabase (EU region, Frankfurt) and served via Vercel. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card details. Your trip data is private by default — visible only to you and the members of your trip.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your data at any time from the app, or request deletion by email. Deleting your account removes your trips, expenses and receipts.
Export and deletion
From the Account screen you can download a JSON export of your RoadSpend data. It includes profile data, trips, vehicles, members, expenses, odometer readings, push subscription metadata and entitlement state, but it does not include secrets, access tokens or raw receipt/avatar files.
Account deletion requires an explicit confirmation. When deletion is processed, we delete your auth user, profile-owned records, receipts and avatars. If your email was used as a participant in another owner's shared trip, that email link is removed without deleting the other owner's trip data. Export and deletion operations are recorded as audit events with aggregated counters, not private content.
